This course starts with the basics and progresses gradually to more complex subjects and concepts. A variety of concepts\, subjects\, application techniques\, and forms of watercolor are explored providing the learner with a complete exposure to this medium. We will explore a variety of texture applications and how to manipulate the flow of watercolor to create an organic and detailed feel to your pieces. \n \nAbout the Artist: Liz McKinnon is a triad artist in the heart of North Carolina. She is inspired by the whimsy of nature and the stories it provokes.  Her gallery space is located in Vida Pour Tea on State Street in Greensboro.  Her art captures the duality of nature in its scientifically natural state and its ability to inspire whole new worlds. Her work revolves around bold women with their own folklore. Her personal artwork mediums are watercolor and ink\, this combination creates a contrast between the soft flow of watercolor and the emphasis of strong\, clean line work.  She uses bold\, vibrant colors instead of the classic soft pastel colors commonly found in watercolors. \nSupply List  (this has a variety of options varying in price range.)

DESCRIPTION:Beginner to Advanced – this short form workshop is very new-sculptor or new-to-equines oriented.  Students will start with skull to work off of and build up a horse (or other equid) bust.  Advanced students can delve into nuances of varied breeds and expressions\, and newcomers to equine sculpture will delight in finding the basic forms and characters fall into place in this tried and true method Morgen has been teaching to students for over a decade. \nClass will require certain materials purchased but advanced students with preferences may work out the project in advance.  The class lecture material will focus more heavily on the equine head. \nLive horse availability (weather permitting) or offsite visits to real horses possible to help students learn to identify boney landmarks and variable aspects of these charismatic subjects with hands on learning

SUMMARY:Singing the Blues Art Show Reception
DESCRIPTION:  \n \nWalker Art Studios is looking for artwork for our September show\, “Singing the Blues”. With a limit of 3 pieces per artist we are looking for artwork that features the color blue as its primary hue. The show will take place September 24-November 29 at the Walker Art Studios Gallery located in the Historic Luck’s Cannery Facility in Seagrove\, NC. The opening will be Sunday\, September 24 from 3-6 PM. \n  \nTo submit your artwork for the show download the registration form or email walkerartstudios@gmail.com for more details. \nArtwork can be paintings\, photography\, sculpture\, ceramics\, mixed media. Artwork submitted may be wall mounted\, free standing\, or displayed on a pedestal. 3D work should be self-standing\, stable\, and free of sharp edges and unsafe protrusions. All registration entry forms must be sent to Walker Art Studios by the submission date of September 8\, 2023. Artwork must be dropped off or delivered September 16-18 between 8 am and 4 pm providing complete inventory\, necessary paperwork\, and labeling. This is a non-juried show. The entry fee is $10/person.\n\nAnyone with an appreciation of fine art is invited to join us for the reception Sunday\, September 24\, from 3-6 pm. The show runs through October 29. Walker Art Studios is located at the Historic Lucks Cannery in Seagrove\, NC located at 365 Fernandez Loop Suite 205\, Seagrove\, NC.
